5 of the Best Beauty Oils

I love using essential oils for keeping my skin healthy and glowing. They work as well as expensive products on the market but without any harmful chemicals or preservatives.

The following are some of my favourite ones. I use rose, jojoba and argan oils daily and sea buckthorn and avocado oils when i feel like i need some extra moisture and hydration. Let me tell you a bit more about their amazing properties.

  • Rose Oil

Rose oil is great for dry or ageing skin and for minimising fine lines and scars. It can regenerate cells and increase collagen production. It’s rich in vitamin C, omega 3s and omega 6s fatty acids which are known to help wound healing and heal scar tissue and its high retinoic acid content makes it a perfect aid to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and brighten skin.

It also contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compounds that not only refine skin texture and tone but are helpful to manage conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis.

The oil extracted from the Rosa Mosqueta variety is especially high in vitamin A and EFAs (omega 3s, 6s, and 9s). It has amazing properties such as reducing dryness, signs of ageing, crow’s feet, and fades and prevent stretch marks during pregnancy keeping the skin hydrated and soft.

I like to apply a few drops before bed and massage on my face and neck or gently rub under the eyes and around the mouth where lines usually form.

  • Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is a light oil that is easily absorbed and chemically very similar to the skin’s sebum which is able to trick it into producing less oil.

It contains vitamin E which promotes clear and even skin tone and high levels of antioxidants that protect against the damaging effects of free radicals and sun exposure.

It’s great to manage acne conditions because like rose oil it contains antimicrobial compounds which inhibit the growth of many bacteria.

Use it on your face, just a few drops will do but also on your and for great hydration and protection.

  • Argan oil

Argan oil is a great natural moisturiser for the whole body, including face, neck along with hands and nails.

Its antioxidant properties make it the ideal anti-ageing product restoring elasticity and leaving skin plumper and softer with less visible wrinkles.

Massage a few drops on your face and neck before bed or before your daily moisturising cream.

The antioxidants in argan oil are also beneficial in reducing inflammation, increasing healing rate of sunburns and soothing dry or sore skin.

Perfect to prevent further dryness and irritation in conditions such as eczema providing immediate relief.

It is also amazing to make hair softer, silkier and shinier and it’s an ideal conditioner that can even help to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. I like to mix it with a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil for a hair mask that I live on overnight or for a couple of hours before showering.

  • Sea buckthorn oil

Sea buckthorn berries are loaded with antioxidants such as vitamin A, C and E, all important for the production of collagen and cell turnover and for preventing wrinkles and reducing skin roughness when applied topically.

One of its main moisturising agents is the omega 7 palmitoleic acid which has proven to be useful for treating systemic skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis as it has anti-inflammatory properties that help calm the skin.

This beautiful oil can be used on hair too since omega 3s and vitamin A are essential for scalp health as well along with vitamin C which aids scalp blood circulation which is vital for shiny and strong hair.

So easy to apply directly on the skin or you can consume internally in both oil and capsule form.

  • Avocado oil

The vitamins and minerals in avocado oil boost skin health and appearance. Vitamin E, potassium, and lecithin are easily absorbed and promote growth of new skin as well as protect existing cells.

Due to its high concentration of anti-inflammatory oleic acid, avocado oil can be applied topically to ease discomfort caused by skin conditions including cracked heels, sunburn, psoriasis and eczema.

And let’s not forget how great it is for nourishing hair improving both their appearance and structure making them shiny and soft.

Apply a tablespoon on hair and leave in for 20-30 minutes and then shampoo and rinse as usual to get its full benefits and have healthier and faster growing new strands.
